Application Systems Analyst I/II (MSSQL/ASP/LAMP)

Duties And Responsibilities: The Joslin Diabetes Center seeks a highly motivated and energetic individual to join a team supporting the Joslin Research Cores. The candidate will be responsible for a web based LIMS system that manages ordering, fulfillment and reporting for various scientific applications and data. This position will initially be in support of an existing ASP/MSSQL LIMS. Will maintain and support existing code, databases and applications. Manage users of the system and fulfil requests for minor enhancements and bug fixes. Candidate will also be responsible for a planned redesign of LIMS system.


Required Education, Experience and Skills: B. S./M. S. in computer science or related, masters preferred. 1-3 years design experience developing web based database applications. Must have demonstrable skills with ASP/MSSQL. Interest in open source (LAMP stack) encouraged . Must have some experience with web design and be able to support exiting infrastructure day 1. Additional experience with other MS or open source tools desired. Experience gathering requirements and documenting the process needed. Ability to analyze and resolve database performance issues. Experience in the design and development of web-based applications, forms, and reports that access databases and data warehouses strongly encouraged.

The candidate should value collaboration and team culture while retaining the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments. The candidate will show an eagerness and aptitude for learning new systems and technical subjects. The ability to work with and assist faculty and student researchers of varied backgrounds and computer proficiencies is a must. The ideal candidate will maintain a detail-oriented and disciplined approach to providing support, and an attitude of customer service and quality at all times.
